Re: Can Toxocara Disseminate?
My wife would not consent to a stool test.
OK...
The test was ELISA, and came back positive.
ELISA IS OK, NOT AS PRECISE AS ACTUALLY IDENTIFYING THEM UNDER A MICROSCOPE, LIKE THEY ONCE DID A HUNDRED YEARS AGO. THERE IS A NEW TEST TO IDENTIFY DOG OR CAT.
She was also tested ELISA for Strongyloides and negative.
I TOOK A ACTUAL BLOOD INSPECTION TEST, MOST
parasite TESTS ARE USELESS ANYWAY. IF YOU GET A HIT, DIG IN FURTHER ON RULING OUT OTHER ROUND WORM INFECTIONS.
So, if she doesn't have Strongyloides, then chances are good that I do not either, and what I've probably got is toxocara disseminated.
?? DISSEMINATED?? IT MOSTLY MALTS IN THE LIVER, GOES ON ITS WAY, DOES NOT REPRODUCE, FADES AWAY...IT IS A DEAD END IN A HUMAN, YOU WOULD NEED TO BE EXPOSED TO DOGS, FOXES, ETC FOR A LONG TIME, REPEAT EXPOSURE, OR UN ENDING EXPOSURE.

I don't even think we have a PCR stool exam in this area of the country.
YOU MAY NEED TO TRAVEL OR ORDER UP A TEST. PCR STOOL TEST IS THE WAY TO GO.
IF YOU HAVE DISSEMINATED GUT, LYMPH, FEET, SINUS, MUSCLE YOU MAY BE LOOKING AT SOMETHING ELSE.
ALBENDAZOLE AND/OR FLAGYL IS RECOMMENDED TO SHORTEN THE INFECTION PERIOD.
She wasn't tested for
Ascaris either, don't even know if they have the test for that around the northern U.S...Toxocara is popular here, though. We are TRYING to get her an I.D. consult, at which time I will try and get him to listen.
parasites COME THROUGH MEAT, VEGIS, WATER, ANYTHING THAT CONTACTS SOIL.
GOOD LUCK WITH THE I.D., I HAVE SEEN 2 AND THEY ARE TOTALLY USELESS. MAYO TURNED ME DOWN, SAID THEY WOULD NOT SEE ME WITHOUT PATHOLOGY. I FINALLY TURNED UP
Ascaris ELISA POSITIVE, NO THANKS TO THEM.
Thanks for the info.
