Re: Come Follow Me
Trapper, you probably know the scriptures better than me, but I can tell you that I know for a fact that Jesus Christ is God. Jesus was a man who lived on the Earth and died for the sins of all mankind. You are right that it is the 'Jesus' part that is the least important thing about Him, it is the fact that He was literally the Christ that is the important part. The Christ is eternal, the Only Begotten of the Father (I'm talking about long before Jesus or anything else existed). All things were created by Christ as the Bible tells us. Jesus is the Christ manifest, the eternal Only Begotten of the Father, made the flesh Only Begotten of the Father on the Earth. In your mind, how is Jesus Christ not God? He is not God because He was Jesus, He is God because He is the Christ.
Adam was not the Christ. Adam was the first man that lived in the presence of the perfect love of God. Adam fell from God's grace (was removed from the perfect love of God) and became just man without the grace of God.
I am still trying to understand the magnitude of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, but it is due to that sacrifice that man can return to the perfect love of God. I do think there is a big difference between Christ and man, because man must always rely on the grace of Christ to be perfect but Christ remains perfect within Himself, He is perfection. He is the truth and the love that we have the capacity to dwell in. But man is not that truth and love, that is Christ. When we come to dwell in His truth, then He makes us perfect, even as He is perfect, and in that way we become like Him, but we do not become Him.
