Re: Come Follow Me
anything, and i do mean anything, you can say about jesus you can say about anyone in christ.
youre all hung up on jesus being god. this is not what the scriptures say. this is also the big obstacle to many finding his message of love and that is they cant swallow worshipping a man, and rightly so(from the world perspective).
Matthew 11
7 And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind? 8 But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings’ houses. 9 But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet. 10 For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. 11 Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. 12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force. 13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John. 14 And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come. 15 He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
this passage, for example, doesnt fit the christianity script. john the baptist is the reincarnated elijah - christians are opposed (a satan) to such a notion. this passage is also a warning that the things of god dont impress man too much. they escape his notice because they are not what people expect.
there are plenty of parables that show that most people will never get it. i dont understand that part, but im sure god has it all under control.
back to jesus as saviour. that he is, there is no doubt. he is the FIRST fruits. he is the only son of god who was born that way. everyone else must also be predestined or adopted or something. adam was the first christ (a son created with the lords own hands who fell short). jesus was the second adam(created by god in the womb and born of a woman), the only BEGOTTEN son of god.
these are REAL things that the creator has done. i dont see any way that some kind of mumbo jumbo incantation that has the word 'jesus' in it multiple times (Matthew 6:7) could possibly accomplish anything (Matthew 7:21).
jesus doesnt need credit. he is due credit and absolutely should be worshipped because he is our example we can see of what god is like. he and the father are one. if you can see jesus, you can see the father. the begotten one, not the created one. 99.9% of the time when the word 'jesus' is used its in the form of a blasphemy anyway. its either used as a curse or taken in vain by those with no idea whatsoever. when the son of man comes will he find faith on the earth? very little, if any.
the scriptures tell us that jesus was a man, born of a woman.
Hebrews 4:15
15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
in all points tempted like we are. can god be tempted like us?
Matthew 19:17
And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
personally, i think he was responding to people specific to them. he was correcting this guy because he was calling a man good. thats blasphemy. if the guy really knew who he was talking to he could have retorted, "but you are just like god." and at that point, whats the difference? people dont respect god now, what makes them think they will in person? god is very lowly and not comely that anyone would desire him. he cannot be seen because he is so still, so solid, so steady. his blessings flow to all - the rich and poor, the good and evil. he takes all manner of abuse and doesnt retaliate. the gifts and callings of god are without repentance. he never gives up on anybody. a person like that on earth today would be dead in three weeks instead of the three years it took the jews to catch up with him.
the world hates god. despises him. tries to own him and blame him and punish him and whenever possible, be him. all religions are worldly religions, even christianity. they serve the world, not god.
as for the rest of it, you have to be able to see the dynamics from the beginning. understanding that takes some doin. i do have to run.
