Re: mirena coil and rheumatoid arthritis

Hello. I was diagnosed with RA in 2013,right after I had just started working my new job. When I first noticed, I was waking up achy in the morning. Then I went to the doctor for mt thumb, which was swollen and unable to bend. I have had two major flare ups with this disease since having RA. The first one I was out of work for 2 weeks. I was on prednisone and methotrexate daily. I went back to work and was okay for a while. My second flare up, completely took me out of work. I was walking with a cane, unable to stand up for long periods of time, and constantly in severe pain. The methotrexate gave my diarrehia, swollen face and excessive weight. The prednisone makes you eat. I was screwed. I haven't had the methotrexate in about 2months and prednisone in 2 months. I have decided that to stop taking them because I know why my RA is so bad- the mirena iud. I have the mirena iud for almost five yrs. now. I know that it has something to do with my RA symptoms, so my next appt. is in May 2015. Tweet
