Re: removal of the mirena coil 9 months ago, joints are still terrible and still on ra treatment that is not working

My symptoms were not as severe as yours, I tested negative for RA, however, when I had Mirena in, the joints in my knees and hands were so painful I had a hard time managing stairs, and would wake up in the middle of the night with my hands aching. I went to a rheumatologist who just brushed me off. Luckily joint pain is one of the symptoms that resolved almost immediately after Mirena was removed. It has come back a couple times around my period, but other than that I'm hopeful it's one of those things that will fade away. Some of my other Mirena side effects are more tenacious, new post-mirena side-effects have emerged, and I think I may have also hurt the healing process by using progesterone cream -- which I seem to be just as sensitive to as the Mirena! Hang in there. This device is evil and hopefully over time we will recover : )
