Re: removal of the mirena coil 9 months ago, joints are still terrible and still on ra treatment that is not working

I developed Arthritis after the birth of my second child. But I was able to get into under control with loosing weight and minimal medication. After 18mths I went into remission.

After the birth of my daughter 3 years later, I was warned that it could come back, & would most likely be within 6 weeks of her being born. I was symptom free for 5 months. When she was 5 months I had the mirena put in, four weeks after I had the mirena inserted the Arthritis started flaring. I have spent the past 5 years battling awful joint pain, trying so many different medications that work for a short period and then stop for no apparent reason.....

I had been put on a new medication about 6 months ago and I was symptom free. I went to have my mirena replaced as the 5 years were up. 6 days later my Arthritis flared dramatically again. I had never put together the possible link with the mirena & my arthritis until then. After reading this forum, I had it removed a week ago. I feel that if there is an even slight chance that it could be causing the pain I am in it is not worth it.

My arthritis is still flaring but I figure it is still early days yet.....
