Thank you for your response. Well, we have the bible to check what anyone says. When the bible says

“But concerning that day or that hour, no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

This thought is echoed in Matt 24:36 as well as Mark 13:32. It does not take a bible scholar to show these people are teaching outside of scripture when they start talking about the last days, and other nonsense.  This brings us to a key point, the inerrancy of scripture. If we believe the Bible is inerrant, (Not discounting our human translational issues) and as was recorded in John’s revelation that there would be no more new revelation.  Then we can test all things against the book. As for looking at how people live their lives I do not know if that is the best gauge. People are fallible, and err horribly. We are in constant need of the grace supplied to us. We can looks at Paul’s letters to the Romans and especially to those in Corinth. Where he had to do a lot of correcting, yet he still called them brothers and saints. I know I will fail God, my wife, children, and many others during the course of my time here on this planet where I am sojourning.

As for the pedophile issue we are given directions for sheep in wolves clothing in the church. We are told to cast them out 1 Cor 5.

 Sexual immorality in the church is not to be tolerated. It is sin against yourself, the other person, and God. We have a very robust prison ministry at our church. I would say at least 10 percent of our church are a direct result of that ministry. We had a person who was a convicted sex offender. He started getting friendly with some of the children, and the pastoral staff addressed the situation, and he no longer worships with us.
