Re: Lugol's Iodine and Increase in Eye Pressure (Glaucoma)
First, DON'T stop taking the Xalatan. Glaucoma is a degenerative disease. The drops only work if you take them religiously. Your pressure has to STAY down. Perhaps your Dr. Can find a cheaper drop if it's the cost of the Xalatan. All the drops have different mechanisms of action, depending on their class, some cause less aquous to be produced by the ciliary body whereas other drops promote it's natural outflow from the eye into the venous bloodstream. There are actually several different types of glaucoma believe it or not.
If you live in a state where there is access to medical MJ you could try edibles. The problem with MJ as a treatment for glaucoma has historically been that if one were to use it as treatment for ocular pressure one would need to remain high. With the research that the growers of said herb are doing, the strains they are making show great promise, some bread specifically to be non inebriating, some to cure seizures, calm nausea, etc. They could surely isolate the phytocompounds that cause the lowering of IOP and make a plant and clone it. It would seem.
Anyways just my two cents worth.
