Lugol's Iodine and Increase in Eye Pressure (Glaucoma)
I started Lugol’s
Iodine drops March 22 and gradually increased the drops to 9 drops 2x a day by May 3. For the first four weeks I had lots of mucus, left kidney pain, blurry eyes, etc. and then most of the detox symptoms went away and I only had blurry eyes. However I was not feeling too good late April and May 3 so I decided to stop turkey but restarted
Iodine gradually from 1 drop to 7 drops until yesterday May 14. During this time I have been having low grade headaches (usually do not suffer from headaches), have been taking salt and water, etc. (I wonder if adding extra salt might affect rise in eye pressure?) My eyes are still blurry. I have continued with
Iodine in the hope that grey hairs will go away, my vision would improve and would have softer skin but neither has happened as yet.
I have glaucoma (high pressure in the eyes, although I have low blood pressure) and whilst taking Iodine my eye pressure has gone up. I had gone to the Glaucoma specialist yesterday and he has added another eye drop to help in reduction of pressure as I have lot of never damage in my optic eyes. I am already on xalatan drops once a day in both eyes and am very unhappy about this added drops.
Today I have reduced the
Lugol to 2 drops 2 x a day. Any suggestions as to what I should do and has anyone with Glaucoma who has been on iodine therapy experienced a rise in eye pressure? Iodine is the only thing I have introduced in the last 2 months and in February my pressure was very low. So I am wondering whether I should discontinue Iodine completely???
I am going to Kenya next week for 5 weeks and I was going to use iodine (1 drop in a glass of water to purify water) and mosquito bites so should I just forget about iodine during my trip????
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated…….
Thank you my friends.
