If I take a tablespoon of coconut oil on an empty stomach I suffer for about 3 hours - nauseas, shaky, confusion! I have been putting a teaspoonful mixed in with my porrige when cooking it and have no ill effects whatsoever. So I think taking it in smaller doses with food would be the way to go. You could try increasing the amount over time or use small amounts several times daily mixed in or cooked with food as you described. I am yet to experience any improvement in health but have only been doing this for a few days.
