Re: Constipated
I've had a goiter since I was a child but really started having digestion problems in the last 5-10 years (I'm 30 years old now). I've been gluten free for about 6 years. I sort of do a paleo diet but not super strict with it. I started paleo about 2 years ago as a suggestion from my doc, and it did help A LOT eliminating all grains. I do have corn now and then (non
Genetically-Modified-Organisms organic usually) and I do have small amounts of dairy but not every day. All my meat I get from a local farmer, organic grass fed etc. I even get my eggs from them and they are organic soy free pastured eggs. I'm pretty strict about eating organic. I have a starbucks latte though a few times a week which I know is filled with
Sugar (I need to stop!) but that is probably the worst thing I consume. I typically do eggs with avocado for breakfast then a smoothie mid morning (coconut milk, half a banana, berries, 2 tbs grass fed gelatin powder (for protein and gut health). Lunch I typically have a salad with lots of veggies and turkey. Dinner is usally meat (chicken, or beef usually)a green veggie and sometimes a sweet potato or saurkraut. My snacks usually consist of cheese and nuts, and fermented pickles.
I take probiotics and also 4 grams of l-glutamine. I also have a prebiotic inulin powder I put in my smoothies. And of course taking all required co supplements with my iodine.
I'm lost as to what to do next as far as my digestion, it's just always been an issue yet I feel like I have a pretty healthy diet. I also work out 2-4 times a week, high intensity training and during warmer months long distance running. I've since taken a break from running though as I think it was stressing my adrenals and thyroid even more.
*side note: I have always had EXCRUCIATING pain in my breasts, and tenderness but this disappeared about 2 weeks after upping my
Iodine dose to 100mg, so that is one GREAT thing I have already gained from taking iodine!
