Doing the math here.

1/4 tsp in 1 gallon of water. 1 Gallon = 128 ounces. and approx 3 TBSP per ounce.

This means that it would take about 384 days to get 1/4 tsp of baking soda.

Or look at it another way. You are getting about 1/1000th of a tsp a day.

If you are that concerned, leave the baking soda out.
