Re: Herbert M. Shelton and people quoting his literature
FastinGuru,
then why do you suppose that during many illnesses and diseases the appetite is suspended, and the desire for food is diminished? because the energy that would have been used in digestion (the most demanding of the body)is utilized elsewhere in the processes of healing and cleansing. The body knows better than you or I if we just but listen to its needs and wants.
You do not need a study or scientific evidence that demonstrates this, and even if you could, how do you suppose this could be measured?
Shelton has independent testimonials as to the number of fasts he supervised of approx' 30,000; Dr Virginia Vetrano could testify for this, as she was his co-worker, so if you contact her, she could verify this.
But is this relevant to anything? and if it is, I'm not sure as to the point you are trying to make, except perhaps to disprove that he was the most experienced fasting supervisor of the last three generations, which he was, and there is a consensus of opinion amongst Hygienists who would agree with this.
Again, it is not relevant to anything that
Shelton did or did not fast himself as he probably didn't see the need, as you do not need to do so when you are well and free from disease for the majority of your life. To observe the effects and benefits of fasting, it simply is not essential to have fasted yourself; I thought that would have been quite obvious.
FastingGuru, it would be helpful if you got your facts right: yes I did undergo two extended fasts at the age of 24 (36 years ago), but I have also fasted for between 12 and 15 consecutive days on an annual basis as a housecleaning measure from atmospheric and environmental exogenous toxins.
I have not ever claimed to be a fasting "expert", but some others have described me in this way, and that is their prerogative if they wish to do so, and esp' after studying Natural Hygiene/Nutrition and the fasting process since my early 20's where I have acquired a great deal of knowledge which I selflessly pass onto others if I feel this would benefit them. This is the reason I joined curezone.
It is not only
Shelton that I have studied, but all of the other pioneers such as Tilden, Oswald, DeVries, Bragg, Carrington and many others as well with a personal library to match.
So you are entirely wrong on both counts, so it would be useful if you had something useful and accurate to say before making erroneous comments.
