Re: Long-term use of ashwagandha - OK?

Yes natural herbs can have dangerous effects also, especially if they are not used correctly, something as simple as liquorice can be deadly if used in the incorrect circumstances and improper dosage. However, benzos and anti-depressants are not even in the same world as ashwagandha, the former cause suicidal and homicidal thoughts and for many people basically turn you into a non-human, no one has ever reported anything close to this with ashwagandha. The worst that can happen with ashwagandha is to increase hormone levels and overstimulate the thyroid, this is easily corrected by stopping supplementation with very minimal discomfort as your body re-adapts. This type of problem will only happen when ashwagandha is used improperly, which can happen quite often with people treating themselves or being treated by someone who doesn't have the understanding of how to correctly use these herbs.
