you know what I realized

As a child, I was raised that suffering is good and life is a test to see how much suffering you can bear, and how much you sacrifice yourself and help others. You were promised a heavenly reward. But, as I got older, one thing didn't make sense to me. Most of the suffering and sacrificing was done by women and children, with the men being in charge and having good lives. Women were taught the male was the head of the household, and children had to obey their parents no matter how abusive and unresonable they were. Women couldn't use birth control, but could not say no to their husbands demands for sex either. So they lived miserable lives. So much for those in power setting an example?

Even in the Church itself, most of the hard work, the nursing, teaching, cooking, cleaning, etc, was done by female nuns. The males were the admistrators. Priests would go to different parishioners homes for dinners, where some dumb woman would cook him dinner and wait on him, what an honor! They would eat and socialize at weddings, graduation parties, baptisms, etc, and even drink liquor! One priest I knew had fishing as a hobby, and some others followed sports on TV! I even heard a priest at Mass ask parishioners to pray that his football team won! Even the altar linens were washed and ironed by women!

And if they want you to have lots of children, why don't you get a reduction in tuiiton for Catholic schools and a subsidy from the Church the more kids you have? There is absolutely no respect or help for mothers, but it's not just the Catholics here either.

Now, I know there are some genuinely good priests who mean well, but I think they honestly don't realize how easy their life is compared to others. They are too far removed from the average person, especially the hierarchy in their palaces with their staff. I really think alot of the prayers and rituals of the Church are beautiful, but htere are major inequities the Church should be addressing. How about priests doing their own housework and cooking so they can see how tough it is? Sorry if I offended anyone here, but that's what I saw. It was enough to make me decide not to marry when I was 5 because I didn't want that life.
