Re: Iodine without thyroid hormone?

Yes it is, I did it. Two years ago I had been on 137 mcg T4 (synthroid) and 18 mcg T3 for 15 years. 1,5 year ago I started iodine. Two months ago I had been on 2 grains of Thiroyd for about half a year, which is already much less then the synthroid.
After that I added progesterone cream (the natural kind) to balance my estrogen (I had signs of estrogen dominance). Estrogen inhibits the thyroid. After that I was able to get off the last of the thyroid hormone. At the moment I'm still a bit hyper of the residues of the last Thiroyd I've been taking. So I'm guessing that that's it: no more thyroid hormone to swallow.

For the last year I've been on 300 mg Iodide and 50 mg Iodine daily at least (I have been at 1 gram of iodide). If I take less I loose my energy, because I'm still detoxing all kinds of stuff. Mainly mercury and bromide I should think.

I'm on all the companions as well. Also taking cod liver oil. And I changed my diet.

Of course in the long run, the Iodine will take care of the estrogen dominance so I should be able to come off the progesterone at some point. But for now it's a nice shortcut. No more menstruation pains. Sugar levels are much more stable.

I hope other former hypo's chime in! Or maybe people haven't been able to completely get off their medication, but have been able to lower it substantially. That would be interesting as well.
