Re: Is histamine intolerance related to Adrenal Fatigue?
I wasnt on the gut dysbiosis bandwagon until recently. Went to a holistic clinic near where i live (they were terrible btw) but it was the only place i could get a CDSA done. It was the last test and place i hadnt checked yet.
Turns out my gut is all kinds of bad, pisspoor digestion of fats, vegetables, and proteins. With a complete noted LACK of beneficial bacteria Lactobacillus and Bifido, i mean listed as Non growing. It also mentioned i have +4 (read: highest on the scale) of a pathogenic bacillus species that has overgrown in my gut. So my thinking was, everytime i react to food, my adrenals take a hit, but its not likely an adrenal based problem. Its likely they are just constantly in a flux of being wore out due to it having to compensate for my body being symptomatic all the time.
From my readings ive come across that the gut is the only place that makes the
DAO Enzyme, which breaks down histamine. Now i dont have the usual symptoms of histamine like hives you could say, however my symptoms are a result of inflammation, specifically in my head. The onset of the symptoms are INSTANT, and its like someone is inflating a balloon inside my skull. Completely debilitating, cant form sentences correctly, cant think, no energy. Once the symptoms pass im more or less normal, but i never really reach my original normal that i was prior to all of this happening.
In terms of treatments, since ive tried basically everything for about a month at a time with no real results.
1) support my adrenals with high doses of C, B vitamins, and Adaptogenic herbs.
--Let me make a note here, since i began completely supporting my adrenals, the sexua| side effects i generally experience have reduced tremendously. Morning erections have returned on a daily basis, and erection strength is also back to normal. When my symptoms first began it was mostly hormonal, my Estrogen levels were sky high, my sex drive was non existent, my erections were non existent. I was a complete mess. This was initially why i thought it to be adrenal related as its a huge regulator of hormones. Seeing as how supporting them is helping me even more there, im inclined to believe some level of Adrenal Fatigue is present.
2) Fix the gut dysbiosis. Ive read home made kefir is the strongest probiotic you could get your hands on in terms of bacteria diversity and sheer strength in numbers. So ive been making my own goats milk kefir at home. It tastes like sour garbage but its supposed to be worth it. Also taking a berberine complex, and silver hydrosol to deal with the bad bacteria overgrowth. I MIGHT add oil of oregano but i feel that might be overkill.
--Let me add that the cdsa confirmed i dont have candida. So thats good.
3) Remove carbohydrates from my body. This one is mysterious for me, i react primarily to carbohydrates, the faster the digesting, the worst i react. The reason for this eludes me but all i know is removing fruit (which i was eating a lot of) showed a DRASTIC reduction in symptoms. But this goes into things like potatoes / sweet potatoes seem to bother me in a similar fashion. This sucks, hard. Im esentially going extremely low carb for god knows how long and it isnt doing my energy levels any favors. Luckily i can eat most vegetables, so i just added an extra meal and am keeping my fats high to keep my energy levels propped.
Also
Sugar and quickly digested carbs tend to feed pathogenic bacteria, so thats a plus too. Also let me just add ive been organic and paleo since August, so at least my diet is free of the big nasties like gluten.
Im going to actually give this a solid 4-6 months, instead of running it for 2-4 weeks and then quitting. This is the plan so far so im hoping i see some improvements.
What do we think?
