also taking iodine (nascent iodine)

I'm glad I came across this thread. Reading these posts is reassuring. I been taking Iodine for about a good month. I used to get cold sores all the time but it's been a good year or so since I've had one. I had a small one pop up and also felt that it was caused by the iodine. Just to confirm my theory I took even more Iodine but instead of getting worse it seems to be helping it heal.

I should probably mention that the kind of Iodine I been taking is NASCENT iodine. I put some on my sore and it burned like hell. I thought I'd try putting some clear potassium Iodide on it because it's water based instead of alcohol based. I didn't expect it to burn at all but it did smart a little. I think it's making the sore shrink even faster. It's reassuring to know that at least one of you who is taking iodine never got a cold sore again. Hopefully the iodine is driving out the last of the virus.

I've also been experiencing classic bromide detoxifying, or toxicity, depending on your beliefs. It just seemed like I had gotten to the end of them right before the cold sore appeared. By that I mean the feeling you get just before you get a cold. I get a cold runny nose but everything is totally clear. Usually when I get a cold it's proceeded by the same thing for the first 1 to 3 days but this time it was probably a week. I thought it would never stop. Other than this happening it seems like it never developed into a cold and even the cold sore is very mild. I'm glad I continued to take the iodine instead of stopping it. I think I'll continue taking extra till it clears up. Assuming it's not going to develop into a full blown cold. I intend to post back, though, if it does.
