Re: My time has come!

I did not say the treatment was useless. It is a good way to manage the lips, that is all. I am talking about barrier ointments in general... it doe snot have to be Vaseline. Why have most dermatologists been telling patients just to apply Vaseline or Aquaphor on a daily basis? It can keep bacteria, saliva, or outside allergens off your lips, as well as moisturize them. If these things are kept off your lips, there will not be as much peeling. And if it even decreases inflammation, then there will be less peeling. If I constantly apply a barrier ointment to my lips, I do not think I get as much peeling. But it is harder for me to do since I also have raw skin that can turn white from moisture. I must say the stronger dose cortisone ointment did not make my raw skin white, and I can keep my lips moisture-free all day. Due to side effects, it is not something I can plan to use on a regular basis.
