Carbonation does appear to help in osmosis especially that of large parasites and even cells making up the Human battery..

Hmm, interesting Q.. Don't think Co2 works as well on metals as is does with Salt. It does however seem to kick start the Human battery which in itself could at least partially solve this issue..
