Re: Cause of depression/no motivation
Sorry to hear you have felt down for so long. And congratulations for reaching out for support on this forum.
Many things cause depression, including biological, psychological, and social factors. Not knowing your life history, one can only guess at why you have your symptoms. Difficult unresolved childhood experiences? Habitual negative ways of thinking? Nutritional deficiencies? Hormonal imbalances? Toxic waste in your body? Perhaps a combination of some of the above.
Where to start? Start wherever you are most motivated, since low motivation is one of your problems, and then move on from there. Cleanses, taking supplements, adding fresh vegetable and fruit juices, seeing a nutritionist, seeing a therapist, starting some form of regular exercise, breathing exercises, learn to relax, do fun things, any one of these would be a good starting point.
One thing you already identified as a problem: your diet. There are many people out there with your kind of diet, and with similar problems! If you really want to get well, sooner or later you'll have to consider adding plenty of vegetables and fruit to your diet, and reduce the intake of starches and sugar. The amount of starches and sugars you are consuming right now would make anyone feel low. Avoid alcohol, as it aggravates the problem.
Don't isolate yourself. Find good people to be with.
Be kind to yourself. Remember that getting out of
Depression is a series of small steps. Get support.
