I've been down all the paleo carb roads, trust me.
Nuts don't work for me except in small quantities. A lot of the paleo breads involve eggs and I'm not interested in eggs when I want carbs. Flax seed bread has no carbs in it and makes my hair fall out. Squash eh, so so, but I don't get so much energy out of it. I love veggies, but don't get any appreciable energy out of anything that is non-starchy. Potatoes are ok if I rotate them. Buckwheat, totally indigestible for me. So what's left?
A lot of these paleo breads are really just masked protein and fat like the ones using nut meals. I spent years trying to get these things to work with no real success. In the end they just turned out to be tricks, at least for me. I know a lot of people are doing well on this diet, and I'm not challenging Dr. Davis or anyone who feels well doing it, but I don't.
Honey works well but it's not a slow burner.
Fruits? already covered that. I like them a lot but can't eat enough of them as a staple in my current state.
Looks like we are talking at eachother. I'll bow out
