Re: soapy taste

Thank you for the reply.

I was eating Paleo starting about 23 years ago. Well before most people who do it now had even heard of it. I started to question it a bit when the doc who got me into it died. He looked fantastic for his age when he died, but nevertheless he did die prematurely.

It worked well for a number of years, but then again looking back not really. I have a long post here somewhere with my history. If I could go back in time I would have eaten way more carbs, way more fats and just eat whatever protein I wanted. Even back then I was eating more protein than my body called for except I didn't realize that I wanted the fats. So I'd wind up eating a giant burger just to get the 20% fat. If I could burn protein or fat for energy I'd be really happy, things just didn't turn out that way.

Even recently I keep trying to go back to it and it always causes the same problems. Between animal protein and bread I choose bread now because I feel way better on that than protein. Fats I always did well with especially saturated fat but it never gives me energy like some people. Too much protein is a disaster for me. It makes me fat, bloated, dark circles under my eyes, dehydrated, depressed, my energy levels plummet, etc.

After a lot of healing and cleansing my body runs best on carbs for energy, fats and meat for other purposes as I need them. But carbs are the way to go for me. I'd like to up my vegetable intake, but vegetables were never a good energy source for me, and since I can't burn fat for energy it's rice, fruit, potatoes, sourdough bread, honey, some yogurt, cheese, for energy. Of all those I can digest sourdough bread the best. I'm trying to figure out corn, some of the nasty corn tortilla chips make me fat, but it could be the oils or gmo corn. Need to test the good quality corn chips.

My intestine inflammation went down about 70 percent since I went heavier toward carbs and limited the animal protein. Once a week or every other week I'll hit the ribeye steaks and enjoy it, but much more than that and my whole body just goes haywire. It doesn't matter if the meat is organic or grassfed I still get the same inflammation from all animal protein and I'm a type O blood. I was in really good shape for most of the paleo years except for about 5 years ago I got really fat and couldn't figure it out. Turned out that's when I needed to shift back to carbs but I didn't realize it. When I shifted back to carbs almost all the weight came off. Nuts are a problem being too high in copper, but I still like a little nut butters. I like all sweet fruit, but I don't have much of a sweet tooth and I feel like too much sweet gets me very unbalanced so decided not to push that. I've read almost all of the paleo authors, a lot of the vegetarian authors and a lot of the people in between. At this point I'll read or try anything but if I have dark circles under my eyes the next day then it doesn't really matter to me how many phd's the author has.
