why is it that in nature you find almost no sodium in food as compared with potassium?

aside from salt flats and sea water, there isn't a lot of sodium in a hunter gatherer diet.

i always wondered this. i did a lot of salt for a while and it helped a lot. maybe i even need more but sweating all the time is a pain.
