Re: This constant stomach burning...
"I've not tried a piece of fruit for over a year"
Again just to reiterate, fruit is one of the healthiest things that you can eat. No need to look at lists of what are alkalizing or not as these are mainly just guesses anyway. All fruit is good for you just try eating some and eat those that taste good to you and make you feel good. Especially get some fruits in that will help relieve your constipation. Again just be sure to eat them by themselves and not mixed with other foods as this can cause problems.
My guess as to what is going on in your body if no one has stated this already. First, obviously, low stomach acid, this means that you likely are not producing enough gastric juice and what gastric juice is being produced is overly acidic. When the food goes from the stomach to the large intestine, bile is supposed to alkalize the digesting food so as not to burn the intestine, but in your case if your liver is not in prime function, then not producing enough bile will let the stomach acids down into your intestines and burn the intestinal lining.
Something you can do to increase gastric juices is to eat "wet" foods, like soups, things that are kind of like gruel in texture will be good for you. Green drinks could be very good for you. If you have a juicer,
juicing up some squash or some cucumbers will be good for soothing the stomach or any other vegetables that make you feel good. Don't have a juicer? Just throw some veggies in a blender, you can also include leafy greens in these smoothies. Get some sun every day, go for some walks. You can research some herbs that can coat the intestinal linings to get some relief but I don't know much about these
