Re: Fear
How do I get rid of fear? It's like I'm afraid of what's next with this disease of AF. In my mind I know that all I have I have to do is let go but my subconscious fights back. It's afraid of the change for the good! It's really weird. I'm going to therapy and been practicing exposure therapy but I really want my old self back. How do I achieve this? Please help!!!! I'm willllllling to do anything to take control of my mind again. Once I leave this fight or flight I feel like all will be well but my body is stuck. I know this and can't seem to change it.
From experience, the only way to truly get over fear is to go through it. If you're afraid of driving, drive, even though in fear. If you're afraid of public speaking, give speeches, talk through it. You may not immediately be able to get over fear, but weaning into a lesser fear might work better as a starting point. There's something inside of you that you must accept and overcome. For me, it was first the removal of fear of death. Once that goes, you'll start to see other fears as much weaker and possessing less power of you. Accept your condition the moment you feel weak, allow it to consume you. The initial reaction is to fight it or control it, but the way to gain control is to lose it. Weird, huh.
Also, accept the fact that it usually takes a long time. Immediate fear removal is a difficult feat. Fear has a funny way of possessing you by blinding you to it. The moment you start to see fear for what it is, the fear tends to consume you and make you look away. Don't stop looking at it.
