Need help interpreting iodine tests from Hakala Research Labs.
Can you help interpret what these results mean? You can see them here:
http://iodineresults.wordpress.com/
I did the spot test, then took 50mg Iodoral and collected urine for 24 hrs.
Iodine.
The spot test seems higher than normal. So this means have have enough
Iodine in my system? I don't currently take any
Iodine supplements.
The 24 hr Excretion seems normal.
The % is normal too at 92%.
Bromide
The spot seems normal.
The 24hr Excretion seems high. Does this affect
Iodine availability in my body as bromide can take over cell receptors right?
Fluoride
Both spot and 24 hr excretion is high. Does it take over cell receptors too? I just started distilling my water so I won't be taking in fluoride for now.
I know taking Iodoral will detoxify the bromides out of the body but will it help the fluoride too?
Could you let me know what all this means? I'm wondering if I have enough iodine in my body but it's not getting to the cells? I may be completely wrong. I'd appreciate any advice.
I should mention I have been sick 25+ years. I have systemic candida, adrenal exhaustion (sometimes), hypothyroidism plus 40 symptoms. I'm exhausted and in pain all the time. (CFS/FM). I recently did a hair analysis test and the Frequent Dose Chelation yahoo support group figures I have mercury toxicity because my minerals were deranged. So I'm detoxing right now with DMSA, will add ALA soon. I've spent a great deal looking into candida and endocrine issues with no improvement in how I feel. Also got side tracked with the mercury issue as even though I thought I might have it whatever I took never worked or I didn't take enough, also on any test it showed no problems but have recently found out because the way mercury metabolizes in the body it will often not show up on tests. So I'm going to give it a good try and detox following Cutler's Protocol.
Edit: I've always been addicted to salt. I crave it all the time and thought maybe I had low aldosterone levels from the adrenals but now I wonder if it's to do with iodine. I need tons of salt everyday! It's like my body doesn't retain it.
Thanks,
Cheryl
