It's out, still suffering
At 40 I knew that I wasn't going to want any children and my fiancé agreed. Since I am allergic to latex and non-latex condoms are very expensive here in Sweden, I decided to give BC a shot. Since I am overweight, the doctor talked me into the Mirena because it isn't supposed to raise your blood pressure (I have never had high blood pressure). She assured me that my heavy periods would be a thing of the past and I would not have mood swings.
I got it inserted (ouch). Day 2 I was in the ER because I thought my head was on fire. My blood pressure had spiked to 185/110. I was put on blood pressure medication. From then on it was hell. Massive insomnia, panic attacks, mood swings, hungry all the time, lethargic, foggy brain, and full body shakes.
One month to the day I decided it had to go. I called and made an appointment to have it taken out. They said the next appoint was in a week. I thought I might be able to handle that. I went on with my day, got home and the full body shakes started up again. I had had it. I told my fiancé that we were going to the ER. This thing was coming out one way or another. When I got to the clinic and I told them all my symptoms (headaches, no libido, hunger [although at that time everything was making me sick], diarrhea, the shakes, insomnia...) they said it couldn't be the mirena, but if I thought it was, I needed to go to the Women's ER. We went there and they said it sounded like I was having a reaction to the synthetic hormone and took it out.
Within 8 hours of having it out my blood pressure was almost normal. The first day it was out was wonderful. Now I am on my second day and I have had uncontrollable crying during the day and this evening insomnia (it is 5am and I am still awake), coupled with the shakes, spikes in my blood pressure, and diarrhea.
I only had it a month, does anyone know if these symptoms will vanish? The doctor said I didn't have it in long enough to ovulate. I am just so scared.
