although I am not convinced that anyone with a gluten sensitivity would invariably experience full-on dermatitis herpetiformis... (btw, I went gluten-free some months back so now I consider gluten to be the root of all evil, so consider the source:).
Bread/baked goods IS a big source of bromide exposure but there are other sources as well, here's a good overview:

I have never heard of your particular type of zit being ascribed to bromide detox, but I'm thinking that that may be because previous posters are not as descriptive as you...
Try this, if you can. You did say that this is on your back so you might need some help... Warm the area to open up the pores.... hot towel or after shower... Mix baking soda and the cleanser of your choice to make a paste. Not sure how you feel about baking soda, you could substitute ground almonds if you wish:) Baking soda works, though! Massage it in, rinse. You'll exfoliate the dead skin cells that are possibly blocking the pores. That should help unplug the pores so that the sebum can flow as it should. & invest in a good back-brush! We tend to neglect our backs!
You'll find that the detox comes in waves. Good that you seem to be over a hump as far as bad dreams go, just know that they just might be on hiatus!
Geez, it's been a long time now for me but I recall that particularly ugly dreams preceded physical symptoms of detox. Just wait, though, your dreams will become sweet:)!
As far as using food sources for your other supplement needs, whatever works for you. How much selenium are you getting from maca? Selenium is critical. See the FAQs on that.
I understand your reticence as far as ridiculous amounts of supplements. I had never taken so many supplements in my life as I did when I was io-supping. I felt though that it was a pretty powerful protocol and that I really need to be sure to cover my bases.
Isn't
Iodine fun? :)
