I was told by a sales rep that storing coconut oil in plastic jars wouldn't be so good if you live in a hot climate and the temperature is hot enough for the coconut oil to stay liquid. He said that the coconut oil would be more likely to absorb the chemicals from the plastic when it's in a liquid state.
Whether it's true or not, I have no idea.
I think that the hard plastic buckets are better than the soft plastic jars. (Just my intuition).
Still, to be on the safe side, I plan to put the gallon of coconut oil into mason jars. If there's room in my fridge, I'll store some of it in there.
