Re: Blastocystis hominis and co-trimoxazole (Bactrim)
Thanks for your kind answer,
first of all I want to say that it is definitely not my intention to frighten anyone. I think it's not necessary that everyone develops headache after a while. I know that I am prone to headaches when I'm exhausted. First I thought the fatigue was a consequence of the constant headaches but I figured out it may also be the other way around. Maybe other people - like you- might experience severe joint pain instead of headaches for example. I think the fatigue is the commmon symptom in all our stories and each body will react differently on it. But that's my own humble theory.
I am also very scared to build up resistance with my 30 days of bactrim. Problem is that I couldn't convince any doctor about the triple therapie. My doctor argues that he first wants to try his treatment and then we will see. The protocol of Australia also mentions 'treatment protocol for RESISTANT BH infection', and so doctor says we still don't know if mine is resistant or not :-/ I think main problem is that the other two medicines are not available in belgium and it's a lot to ask from my doctor to send a letter or call to Australia to obtain the meds, even before trying his treatment.
He also argues that if everyone will immediately start with a therapy for resistant BH infection, this treatment will also build up resistance over the years.
Maybe a paper about the efficacy of the Australian triple therapy and the danger about mono therapy would help but I really don't find it anywhere (already looked on the net for a couple of weeks).
If you would still have this information it would be a very great help to me.
To answer your question, I've always been quite thin but since last year sometimes loose up to 1 or 2 kg. That's not so much of course and I think it was more because all the hospitalizations and stress around it.
Started the bh diet one week ago and this really makes me loose a lot of weight (49 kg now). Under other circumstances I would be happy with that but for now I'm scared to loose even more energy and power, especially if I have to do the diet for more then 30 days...
I read somewhere on this forum that the meds are available in India; now trying through my husbands family in Nepal to figure out if they are also available there. Fingers crossed...
I have one more question (sorry for the longs post, again); Jackie provided me the information about the first line therapy (secnidazole, diloxinide, septrin). Some people on this forum begin with the second line protocol; what are the reasons for this and was it also adviced by Jackie?
Thanks a lot
