Re: People lie while today's science is infallible?
As I said in my post, the veracity of studies can be influenced by the sponsor or company, funding the study, and as I said, if it is a drug company funding research into their own products, I tend not to accept the findings of the study until the research can be independently verified. It is not difficult to find out who funds which studies, and anyone who believes something, without doing their own research, only have themselves to blame if something goes wrong, or they get had by unscrupulous operators, and drug companies are notorious for being unscrupulous.
I do not accept the word of anonymous people on the internet, unless what they are saying can be independently verified. As this is nearly impossible to do, for the mere fact that they are anonymous, these testimonies are worthless as a form of evidence of efficacy of a protocol or treatment.
I did not mention people you may know personally, and I am not questioning their words, or your belief in them, so this is a non-argument, the fact that you believe people you know, is not at all useful to the wider community. I tend to believe people I know and trust, but this doesn't help anyone but me.
As for
Science or religion, IMO anyone who has blind faith in anything, including science, is a fool. I have a background in science, and know of no scientist who has blind faith in the scientific method, it is simply the best way of proving or disproving a theory, that we currently have, and it will remain so, until someone comes up with something better.
Alternative medicine is often seen as the victim of science, but this is simply untrue. The study I have been involved in for the last 2 years, is evidence of this, so are the many studies that have been done on alternative therapies/herbs/protocols/supplements etc. It is only those that fear scrutiny, by scientific method, that claim the victim position. If an alternative therapy or protocol, cannot bear scrutiny, then it is worthless at best, and dangerous at worst.
As with all medicine, alternative or otherwise, people need to do their research, and this means a thorough research, not just reading sales sites or sites that hype whatever they are selling.
Testimonials, by anonymous internet users, are not evidence, and people should be very wary about accepting any of them as evidence of efficacy.
