I'm also a vata dosha person & i have tried several foods including raw yolks to dried fruits which ultiately ended up in sever constipation.
Now i'm complete fit person...eased off dry mouth,constipation,weightloss,athd etc by following these tips
vata dosha govers colon i.e people with vata dosha have hive high risk of constipation rather than indigestion.

Earlier i used have bowels weekly twice or thrice,but i have changed all my diet,dialy practices[DINACHARYA]which had made me to defecate every day.

some of the things i followed:

vata dosha should not eat raw food especialy non veg,apple,pomogranate,night shades[cabbage,cauliflower,potato]

I have copletely quit non veg & became a vegetarian..

Food has to be freshly made,with either oil or ghee & must never be frozen,preserved with chemicals.

hot spicy food is not ment for vata dosha.

sweet,sour & salty food must be eaten.

Food has to be eaten as the same time of the day without delay.

long grain rice and whole weat products without preservatives is best for vata dosha.

always eat food in sitting position[crossed legs on floor]this increases blood sully to intestines.

ANGER,GREED & LUST are the three hazards which effect vata dosha and cause diseases in the long run.

herbs which are beneficial according to ayurveda are:

triphala
vocha
bala
ashwagandha
shatavari
coriander
rock & black salt
asefotida
brahmi
dried ginger
etc



DRY MOUTH is also a major problem of vata dosha which can even cause foul bad odour from mouth.

inorder to prevent this,one has to take barley juice[barley seeds,two spoons boiled in two glasses of water....boil it till the jiuce comes to one glass]& drink with jaggery or sugar.

and doing to yoga asanas called as seetali and seetakari pranayama [this consists of taking air slowly with closed teeth /folded tounge and exhaling through nose]

cold items/exposure to cold is very dangerous for vata dosha....never eat ice creams,frozen foods or ay cool drinks.

DAILY selfMassage with essential oils like til oil or coconut is important to reduce vata dosha.
this massage should be done with light warm oil starting from face and ending with feet.direction of movemtn must be towards heart/lymph nodes.
