Other options & supports...Re: Uny, Celery powder instead of sea salt? (plus edit)
ds2 -
I was surprised to see your recent post on recovering from adrenal issues after that horrible bug that captured you...I don't recall you ever mentioning adrenal issues before (maybe I need some Brain Formula, though, lol). Anyway, I'm glad to hear you were bouncing back better than you'd expected...but I think there's some things you might consider adding (because methinks you can be feeling quite a bit better than you're reporting!).
Salt -yes, when the adrenals are taxed, they (current science) tells us that because of a lack of aldosterone (an adrenal hormone), causing our sodium/potassium balance to be off (too little salt in the bloodstream), and this causes salt cravings (of course). But the more water we drink, the more diluted the salt levels becomes in the bloodstream. Assuming this is true, then adding sodium to our diet is not exactly "bandaiding"...as long as we're working on the cause (like you are!).
Certainly the one thing we do NOT want to do is to ingest less water than what we need (and "salt" is definitely a dehydrator!) - so adding "salt" doesn't seem to be the logical answer - but adding high sodium whole foods/broths makes much more sense.
Why is adding sodium not exactly "bandaiding"? Well, if our immune system is trashed, we don't leave it trashed until we can correct the cause/s...we take Echinacea to support the immune system. When circulation is lacking, we don't leave it lacking until we can find/correct the cause, we utilize Cayenne...again, to support the body while we're addressing the cause. That being the case, I do think it's a good idea to add some sodium - I'd just prefer to see you use a food source, rather than rock-salt crystals...like you're doing & considering with celery. YAY!
BUT, there are foods/herbs with higher levels of sodium than celery, and I think you might want to consider those before going to the trouble of trying to create your own 'celery powder' (although that should be fine if that's what you want to do). Seaweeds, ocean-side plants (very inexpensive and readily available) are much higher in sodium than celery...Kelp, Dulse, Bladderwrack, Wakame and Irish Moss are great choices. Other food sources include bok-choy, chinese cabbage, beet & turnip greens, and of course..celery. The seaweeds have the highest content (double/triple the other veggies listed). The following have less sodium, but are still 'up there' on the list - spinach, beet roots, turnips, radish, carrots, watercress, cilantro, tomato, parsley. Using these (and whatever seasoning/spices you would like), you could come up with a fantastic broth :) I wouldn't go too heavy on the 'sea plants' because a lot of their sodium is from 'sea salt'...but it's still better to get all the co-factors & phytochemicals that are natural than to use the salt-crystals alone. (yes, I know there's other plant chemicals in rock-salt, but many of the originals have degraded & been lost over the zillions of years it takes to form underground rock-salt...and sea salt of ANY kind --taken from seriously toxic oceans-- is not ever an option to me).
Here's a checklist for supporting your adrenals -
Natural Vitamin C - best herbs are Amla berries/powder or Acerola Cherry powder (start at whatever dosage you'd prefer, but 1 Tablespoon of either seems like a good starting place to me). All foods that are high in natural Vitamin C - guava, dried lychee, bell peppers, cayenne, kiwi, parsley, kale, and of course citrus.
Naturalal B5 - BEE POLLEN (and jam-packed with AWESOME levels of protein & nutrition).
Herbal support - Ashwangandha (or course), but other adaptogenic herbs are also good - particularly Eleuthero (used to be called Siberian Ginseng), Licorice, Gotu Kola, Mullein, and some like Nettle (but it can be a diuretic, and that's not something you likely need right now at all). We've got Dr. Christopher's Adrenal Support Tincture in the Storefront - it contains Organic Mullein leaf, Eleuthero, Gotu Kola, Lobelia, Hawthorn berry, Ginger root. I really like the Hawthorn & Cayenne in this formula to support the heart - so many times with adrenal stress we see heart palpitations and just plain exhaustion. I think it's important to support the heart & circulation when healing.
no No NO...EMFS :( particularly not wifi or cell phones in your house, and be SURE to get outside on the earth barefoot at least 15 minutes daily to 'ground out' the toxic frequencies. In winter, just put on several pairs of socks.
yes Yes YES...EFT! http://curezone.com/forums/fm.asp?i=1711602#i Stress is bad; EFT relieves stress (and the causes of stress) - the above link has a great video and links to good information and a video tutorial. I'm telling you true, you'll be amazed and how effective it is! :)
Be sure and keep us updated!
Healthiest of blessings,
