Re: Question about DMSA protocol
I have a question about using DMSA/ALA for mercury detoxing...
I think it's supposed to be 3 days on (every 4 hours, even through the night) and 4 days off as a rotation.
My question is, if one if not getting any major detox symptoms, why bother with the 4 days off? If one has a lower level of toxicity, would it be harmful in anyway to do 7 days on, 3 days off or another schedule where there are more days on? Wouldn't that help detox faster?
If one starts to experience symptoms, I understand the reason for taking the break but what if a person is tolerating it well?
Well most people do 3 on 4 off because of the work/school week. Andy says rounds a bit longer(7-10ish days) are ideal but most of the time the interrupted sleep and side effects get too bad so people stop after a few days. If I were you I would take the maximum tolerable dose(without exceeding 1mb per lb of bodyweight) for a week on week off.
The break part is to give your body time to recover from the stress of chelation. I mean you are removing a highly toxic metal from your organs so some sort of recovery time is needed.
I think Andy says that breaks have always been used so he would be reluctant to suggest continuous chelation.
