Re: Best Magnesium compound?
Hi Telman,
You mention: Magnesium Citrate, Magnesium Hydroxide, Magnesium Oxide, Magnesium Sulphate.
Do you happen to know if they all have equally explosive gut-emptying effects? I had assumed from other posts that the effect was proportional to how loosely the magnesium is bonded to the other part of the compound. (Perhaps these 4 compounds are equally tightly bonded, and it's magnesium stearate that's very different). Also, one of the posters mentioned taking Magnesium Citrate last thing at night, and passing "sludge" rather than butt-pea, so I rather assumed that magnesium citrate was a lot gentler, and presumably less prone to causing dehydration.
Since we're on fairly technical stuff: what is the optimum ratio of
OO (Olive-Oil) to lemon juice etc? I ask because it may be that the usual protocol (ratio of 1:1) is suggested because only that amount of lemon juice provides the necessary acid. BUT could it be that that particular oil/water emulsion is not optimum for triggering the Gb reaction? I'm wondering whether a ratio of a large amount of
OO (Olive-Oil) with a very small amount of water with
citric acid dissolved in it, might be better - that way, you could achieve the same acidity (by using the right amount of
citric acid ), but produce a mixture which is 90 or 95% oil rather than 50%, which ** might ** triggger a more useful reaction from the GB. And also, if one used pure
citric acid in water, there would be no carbohydrate in the mixture, which you mentioned in one of your posts slows down the movement of the
OO (Olive-Oil) from the stomach.
Worth pursuing?
regards,
Marc
