Re: Magnesium.......

Yes I agree with observation. The loss of salts can be quite serious and may be the cause of nausea, cramps, gas and bloating that some flushes complain of.
I posted this information earlier:
Epsom Salts is a Hyperosmotic saline type laxative. This means that the magnesia acts to pull a salt or saline solution into the intestines from the blood. This excessive fluid then provides a flushing or laxative action within the intestines. There is an inherent loss of salt from this process so that the magnesium levels in the body may well be less after consuming
Epsom Salts . Other salts, known as electrolytes which include Calcium Magnesium, Potassium, Sodium, Chloride, and Bicarbonate may also be lost.
Deficiencies in any of these salts can show itself as side effects particularly in someone whose has a low liver efficiency. It is difficult and complicated to replace these electrolytes quickly but I think sodium as the key salts needs to be replaced first and then the body will acquire what else it needs from a normal healthy diet. Consequently I advocate drinking natural
Sea Salt (aluminium oxide free) to be taken in warm water; seems to work.
There are 4 magnesium base laxatives, Hyperosmotic Saline laxatives all of which are harsh.
Magnesium Citrate
Magnesium Hydroxide
Magnesium Oxide
Magnesium Sulphate
The laxative purges the duodenum so that the gall bladder will reflex on detecting semi emulsified olive oil achieving maximum emptying. It is also claimed that the magnesium will dilate the bile duct. This is too general a description and I am unsure if it means a simple widening of the duct to accommodate larger stones or an opening of the Sphincter of Oddi (The valve connecting the bile duct to the duodenum). It is stated time and time again that the flushing potion enters the bile duct but I do not have convincing evidence of this. Positive pressure exists in the bile duct and opening the valve would deplete the bile duct of bile.
