Re: censorship on internet forums.
I disagree with you on several points DQ, and I also think that there is definitely an agenda being played out on the
Debate Forums . When posts are edited, that contain no breach of TOS, no name calling, and no personal attacks, this smells like an agenda to me.
When the worst offenders, as far as attacking others is concerned, are supported, instead of moderated, this also smells like an agenda.
This is not about people disagreeing with each other, I have disagreed plenty with you, but I still respect you. This is about freedom of speech, and censorship on the
Debate Forums , by the moderator, and now supported by the WM.
The people in this thread know only too well that they have been censored, when this is brought to the attention of the WM, the moderator responsible for the censorship is lauded for this action. The people who asked for this issue to be looked at, are patronised, and threatened with banning, if they persist in bringing this issue to the fore.
That also smells agenda to me.
The
Debate Forums can be a place of healing, they have certainly been the place for healing rifts between certain members. Including the removal of several very slanderous posts. It is also a place where protocols can be questioned, (well it used to be, not anymore). Issues such as politics, abortion and religion, should be able to be discussed without fear of being censored.
We asked for the personal attacks to be stopped, we were told to use the alert system. I did, and guess what, those very nasty personal attacks are still there. There are several on the WM forum even now, still unmoderated.
The worst offenders now have a free shot at anyone else, because people are no longer allowed to defend themselves, and the attackers posts remain on the forum.
Agenda, oh yes. Regardless of whether you personally see what is behind these actions, there are others that do, and belittling them just continues to show the agenda for what it is.
