Re: Great forum

I am optimistic about our future too. All the gloom and doom stuff is.... nevermind.... that is not the tone of your forum. I simply choose to be awake and optimistic, not a victim.

Is why your forum is bright and topical. You've done a great thing by your persistence with information. So much easier to gather around this bright light than, well...

We have a decent growing season here. Just not the land. Am probably going to engage in a co-op into the next year. Am really wanting to get my hands into some dirt like you describe, like I do with wood. Good for the soul. We've become close friends with many growers around here. A major river feeds gobs of farms for many, many miles. We're about to go into the last of the fall harvest so may see what I can learn towards canning something.

Speaking of renewable energy, and wood, well, we weren't but am now. There is nothing more sweet than the sweet smell of pinon wood, cedar or juniper, mesquite. Am heading out shortly to start the cutting and transporting. I leave the logs to about 18-20" and only split them a week in advance. That substitutes partly for 'going to the gym'. I've seen some pics of some Saab enthusiasts who have built alcohol stills on wheels and power their older Saabs that way. That's a bit much for me, but I admire the ingenuity towards the use of wood.

All good for the soul. Not sure how to measure what's good for the soul in carbon footprint.

Your forum is a bright light.
