Re: Degrees...
The term degree has its origin with organizations which have typically reserved higher learning for those who are willing to submit themselves to some sort of code of conduct (right or wrong). For example: Free masons adhere to the 33 degrees of rite.
Nothing will ever change if there are those willing to submit to those who are relying on your submission to lend their position a semblance of authority.
We need to realize the impact of the statement "I think therefore I am".
It is the larger word in that statement that shuttles us to the conclusion of our existence. "Therefore"!
We, as an intelligence, have allowed ourselves to become a building-block, but not intelligently. Imagine that all the blocks in the building are judged, not on the strength to sustain the building, but on the similarity of their color, or some other non-relevant feature. We find ourselves with a problem. Even more so when the very blocks are acting as the judges.
Then begs the question, is a structure even needed?
Some might say it is invaluable, however, it is usually those entrenched within the structure.
It is valuable to them as a tool for one thing or another but for higher intelligence? Debatable.
A sculptor uses structure pre-existing in a material and removes anything that is not part of the desired sculpture.
Ants remove what is in the way of their labyrinth.
We need to realize that there are vast areas which we cannot even fathom and that doesn't negate their existence.
Just because we cannot see into the material of the sculpture, doesn't mean that structure is non-existent.
We have to admit to ourselves the existence of those vast and nearby structures even though there is no explanation at hand.
