Re: A critical thinking exercise.

Excuse Spud I will not enter into ICs programme.
I think that the USA and BP gambled when drilling so deep in those waters. It could be viewed as greed but I remember Pres. Obama proclaiming that the US was not going rely his countries fuel supplies to the Middle East which left the USA to trade somewhere else eg. South America or the oceans and waterways that encompass the USA.

The Gulf of Mexico and surrounding areas and it's life are suffering the consequences. It's tragic but if it had came off, the USA would have continued to drill and with the knowledge of hindsight it was a disaster waiting to happen.
I feel that Pres.Obama relied too much on BP to stop oil pouring into the Gulf and cleaning it up (not hindsight) and instead organised environmental agency's to go in with expertise and deal with this extremely bad tragedy.

I also feel that the consortium drilling those well have "cut corners" to make profits above and beyond the norm. Hopefully it's again a lesson learnt, but let's not forget, this is not the only oil disaster that is going on, there are many dotted around the globe.
So looking at the bigger picture we hope that other forms of energy are found, and perhaps this cloud has a silver lining and someone now will be urged to find the answer.
