A Tale of Copernicus

I have read that in the days of Copernicus there were self proclaimed "scientists" that mocked a few people who theorized that the earth wasn't flat. But the self proclaimed "scientists" of their day clung to their blindness and self proclaimed status with arrogant pride, in between blood letting and cadaver carving. Of course time has shown that the "scientists" ability to synthesize information was quite limiting as history has proven. They even went so far as to support witch hunts and the mocking of those who flew with ideas against what the status quo was able to see.

They were so steeped in their arrogance, in fact, that they supported beggars, thieves and drunkards in their folly against seeing new patterns arise in front of their faces. They refused to look and instead clung to the familiar rather that think beyond what they were conditioned to see.

But of course they were not scientists at all but just people fond of airing labels for acceptance.
