Yep, you are right. The colors mean absolutely nothing. In spite of that, the system works. It's been tested and used for over forty years. If you don't want the water to change colors you should buy one with a graphite or titanium array. You can get a bath tub model out of California for $200 with a graphite array which will produce the same effects without all the colors. Use it as often as you like!
