Re: Inulin and FOS experiences?
I am not sure of whether it is better than nothing in my case, but the the
Science shows it has been helpful for most study participants in areas such as butyrate and short chain fatty acids(great for general health), relief from diarrhea and constipation, and even diabetes. There is a lot to be gained from good fiber for the general population. Really, it is the only thing that makes sense to me as far as a long term cure. Kill all you want, at some point you are going to have to promote growth of the good guys to fill in the holes and keep the bad guys away. Not to mention all the wonderful benefits to be had from a healthy bowel ecology. You can try seeding it with probiotics, but the number of probiotics you could supplement with doesn't come close to the results that could be had by feeding what's there, assuming there is something good hiding out somewhere (appendix perhaps)
I mean, logically, it seems like the way out, it is just not working for me. In my case, it seems like you are right, it is worse than nothing, but 'nothing' isn't doing much to help me either. I have seen many on this and the yahoo forum in the same boat as me, but then there are some like sans sucre....
