Re: sure enough...

Pure speculation John,
You have no proof as to the Councils motives one way or another.
Conspiracy theorizing: which doesn't make any sense of the available evidence.
You have only given your opinion which has no foundation, and until you have, it is just pure speculation and has no merit.

"the truth about vitamin d will not be known for many years, maybe decades".

The truth John has been known for centuries with skin exposure to sunlight which produces, (as I have said previously) 20,000ius to 50,000ius of D3 or cholecalciferol, and the levels determined by the body when it has become sufficient.
Further prolonged exposure to the sun does not cause vitamin D toxicity. This is because after prolonged UVB radiation exposure, the vitamin D made in the skin is further degraded to the inactive vitamin D metabolites tachysterol and lumisterol.

The main points you are missing here John include........

#1. The levels determined by the body when sunlight is abundant is therefore the level at which it should, and could, be maintained throughout the year: so in the absence of sunlight during the Winter months in Northern climes, it is safe to assume that supplementation is required over this time-frame.
Dietary sources btw are totally inadequate in reaching these levels.

#2. There is a marked differentiation between studies conducted with Pharma drugs and Vitamins as it is in their own interests to market a product which can be patented and therefore sold at exorbitant/extortionate prices. Many Pharma studies/research is therefore "slanted" in the drugs favor, and where serious side-effects remain undisclosed; Vioxx being a prime example. This is well-known within curezone generally.

On the other hand Vitamin D3 is "non-patentable" (except in the form of analogs) and where monetary gain is not a motive for research into this natural substance.
Studies are therefore bound to portray an accuracy of benefit lacking entirely within drug-research.

You have yet to post or give any information on the methods/tests used to determine a VDR's blockage.

Also, the only reasons given by researchers into Vitamin D deficiency/insufficiency are...............

* Inadequate exposure to sunlight - This causes a deficiency in cutaneously synthesized vitamin D. Adults in nursing homes or health care institutions are at a particularly high risk.39
* Vitamin D malabsorption problems - People who have undergone resection of the small intestine are at risk for this condition. Diseases associated with vitamin D malabsorption include celiac sprue, short bowel syndrome,40 and cystic fibrosis.41
* Minimal amounts of vitamin D in human breast milk - The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends vitamin D supplementation starting at age 2 months for infants fed exclusively with breast milk.42
* Medications - Some medications are associated with vitamin D deficiency. Drugs such as Dilantin, phenobarbital, and rifampin can induce hepatic p450 enzymes to accelerate the catabolism of vitamin D.

and not VDR blockage by any means that you have stated.

Chrisb1.
