Brr - that's a chill I remember well, reminding me of this:


The Crave . . .

to know and
be known
so that at
the last gathering on our
behalf
someone could say with accuracy
we preferred black to
red
as memory’s eulogized timeline of
personally prospected fine line
“. . . are you sure? – I could swear she liked blue” – somebody said
with surreptitious forgiveness and no ill-will undue
familiarity sans contempt that day
as prayerful grieving
wept
. . . “but how well does anyone really know
anyone”? - the octogenarian asked
rhetorically ready to go -
Oh !
then along with everything else desired
and disciplined off the
list
the universe sends a resounding
“NO” to even this -
no happy clan
no peaceful nation
no tennis without hesitation
no Sugar - no spice and
everything nice
no honest revelation
a sip of wine will not be fine when
traveling solo
intimating mortality
results arriving
lone -
unknown
while changing what we want is prudent
if desire is out of reach
the crave to know cannot be quelled
nor propensity to teach
but it seems somehow preferable now
to remain a
mystery . . .
