Re: Man created god in their image
"If we are discussing the christian version of god then yes this image of god came from man's filters. God is nothing more than the playing field for all experiences and all potentials. Man paints a face on that creative potential that is god.
Another thing people tend to do is associate god as having preferences (separation again). God is everything unfolding with no preference whatsoever. It just is and the energy allows any and all possibilities.
Christians personify god. The saying that god created man in his image is an exact and opposite mirror of what has actually occurred. Man created god in their image. ;-)"
EXACTLY
In the Old Testament, times were hard. Kingdoms were waring with one another. People were captured by enemies and made
slaves. They created a God which would (hopefully) deal
with the circumstances of the era. They NEEDED a GOD of vengence. One who would smite the enemy and deliver them
from bondage. People created the type of God they believed was necessary at that time.
The whole idea of a Messiah, was one who would deliver the people from their oppressors. That is why Jesus was rejected by the "mainstream" or "orthodox" people of His day. He simply did not fit the picture they had painted of
"Messiah".
