as far as "life" is concerned... when wasn't it?

Without the action and interaction of acids and bases, we would not exist... their would just be pools of acids or mounds of rock/dirt/sand... no life to speak of... but perhaps eventually single celled microflora if the acids and bases existed in such proximity that they interacted with each other.
