Do you know EXACTLY what test was done? Was it a culture or a gram stain? If it was a culture - was it a FUNGAL culture or one to simply detect for the Candida ALBICAN *yeast* species?
Many labs (or kits) will test for albicans only, yeast only, where others will test for all species of Candida, yeast OR fungal OR both, OR ALL fungus and yeasts. (The latter being the preferred.) One can have Candida overgrowth of another species (eg., glabrata, krusei) and if the lab requisition was specific to albicans, the results will return without any mention of a species that might be in an overgrowth status.
How many days or weeks between the day you presented the specimen and the day you received the results? Do you know the name of the lab which performed the test?
Zero C albicans is impossible. You would be dead or extra-terrestrial.
