Re: Triglycerides & Cholesterol - I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!!
I have a triple whammy - Genetics - cousins with MI as young as 19, several w/ bypass in early 30's: Diabetes - which contributes it's own lipid metabolism problems; and Glomerular Nephritis, which is stable but I had considerable kidney damage from, which lets out the small proteins (enzymes) in the urine which also contributes to poor lipid metabolism. My doctor is very good but is quite frustrated. With all the meds and dietary restrictions and exercise, I have only managed to get my TRIG's down to about 500, and that is very hard to sustain. I have stopped using
Sugar or white flour, or corn, use flax seed and flax seed meal. I make my own whole grain bread as well. I'm pretty much a vegetarian, use mostly the meat analogs i.e. "vegemeats", and don't drink or smoke. I am already using some herbal supplements that have worked as well as the prescription meds.
So desperate measures for desperate circumstances. I am an RN and I do scour the literature for help. Conventional medicine has done what it can but is limited. I have a cardiac background and work in one of the best hospitals in the country. They're stumped. I do fly anything I do past my internist first.
Thanks so much for your help!
